From 10 to 22 August 2017 the XXXVIII edition of the Rossini Opera Festival will take place in Pesaro.
The Rossini Opera Festival is a foundation promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro, the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro, the Intesa Sanpaolo bank and the Scavolini Foundation, with the scientific collaboration of the Rossini Foundation, and is a member of Opera Europa.
The distinctive feature of the XXXVIII edition of Rossini Opera Festival will be a strong directorial imprint.
The famous Catalan group La Fura dels Bausafter the success in major international theaters open the Rossini Opera Festival, with Le siège de Corinthe, the first French opera by Rossini. Conducting the orchestra will be the famous baton of Maestro Roberto Abbado.
The XXXVIII edition of the Festival will see the return to Pesaro of Pier Luigi Pizzi, the historical presence of the event, in a scenically revised edition of La pietra del paragone, a work that is missing the Festival for fifteen years. The direction of the orchestra is of a big name like Daniel Rustioni.
The young festival offers Il Viaggio a Reims and a busy program of concerts, meetings and several initiatives that will complete as always the billboard, which will end with the Stabat Mater that will be video streamed live in Piazza del Popolo, the main square of the city where stands the splendid Renaissance Palazzo Ducale.
